The U.S. Coast Guard unloaded 20 TONS of cocaine from a record bust that occurred mid-March off the Panamanian Coast. The vessel, the Gatun, was heading from Panama to Mexico and its illicit cargo was valued at $600 million retail. According to Coast Guard ship captain, Charlie Diaz, “At the end of the day there is nothing like a good drug bust to lift everyone’s spirit.” And I’m sure the few extra pounds no one will miss kinda helped too. If you’re in the Bay Area, the Gatun was unloaded at a pier in Alameda. Just sayin’. Read more here.
