The U.S. Coast Guard unloaded 20 TONS of cocaine from a record bust that occurred mid-March off the Panamanian Coast. The vessel, the Gatun, was heading from Panama to Mexico and its illicit cargo was valued at $600 million retail. According to Coast Guard ship captain, Charlie Diaz, “At the end of the day there is nothing like a good drug bust to lift everyone’s spirit.” And I’m sure the few extra pounds no one will miss kinda helped too.
