The discovery of two fossilized branches found in Gilboa, NY, allowed scientists to piece together what they believe is Earth’s Oldest Tree. The branches match samples of stumps found in Gilboa over 100 years ago. The tree, genus Wattieza, would’ve looked something like our modern palm tree and stood about 26 feet high. The branch and stump fossils date back some 385 million years.

In other tree-related news, a guy in Arizona shot at firemen when they refused to rescue his cat from a tree.
