My old roommate and best friend of 19 years has immersed himself in the hobby of breeding Boa’s for a good 6 years now. He started when we lived together in Daly City, where he had his first unsuccessful try as a Boa of at least 6 feet gave birth to about 20 still born babies in the bathtub. It was one of the worst smells I’ve ever smelt. There was another instance a couple years later when a mother Boa started having complications during birth and a fellow breeder advised him he had to cut the snake open and save the babies because the mother wouldn’t live through the birth. He ended up having to use a steak knife, which resulted into one of the bloodiest scenes I’d ever seen (through pictures). One snake survived the birth, but died a couple weeks later. But last night, he succeeded. The mother, a 6ft long a double het snow Boa (?), gave birth to 17 babies of 8 different genetic traits (albino, snow etc.). The litter is approximated at $20,000. Congratulations playa.
